Durable Information Architecture

The advantage of timeXtender with Dynamics AX, CRM or NAV is that it is possible to build a properly-architected Business Intelligence application, based on SQL Server, very quickly with no programming. The ability to produce a working proof of concept on a client’s own data within a few hours often provides the breakthrough that gets a BI project underway. The code produced is standard SQL – so there are no black boxes here.

There are a number of ways to get the most from data in Dynamics. Cimbax nearly always recommend a SQL Server-based staging area, data warehouse and OLAP server to do the job.

  

timeXtender has adaptors for AX NAV & CRM that understand the data structure and content of these applications. QuickCubes provide OLAP 'out of the box' for AX NAV & CRM. Together, these give the ability to get a proof of concept working with your own data within a few hours.

Front End Flexibilty

By producing an Information Architecture with a SQL Server Data Warehouse and Analysis Services OLAP cubes, the choice of tools to present the data to users is wide. In a Microsoft environment, SharePoint and Excel provide good functionality for analysis and delivery of information in 2007 - and especially 2010 versions.

The Analyzer product from Strategy Companion is popular choice, as is the Targit solution.

Many others exist, and with data being held in the Data Warehouse and OLAP cubes, hybrid solutions with more than one analysis and presentation product are also often used.
